(9/3/15) -- Our 2015 Open House coincided with one of the strongest heat waves to hit the California central coast in years, with temperatures in the high 80s and 90s for extended periods. This, combined with our longstanding drought conditions, made for an especially challenging growing environment. Several varieties stood up especially well under the extreme heat.
A brand new small leaved variety, Salvia ‘Elk Phoenician Purple,’ bred for its intensely vibrant deep purple flowers and compact well branched habit, put on an exceptional show.
Another attention getter was the compact Abutilon Patio Lanterns™ ‘Passion,’ the newest addition from the breeder of Abutilon Lucky Lantern™ ‘Tangerine’ and Abutilon Lucky Lantern™ ‘Red’. MORE -->
