It stands above all previous Pieris introductions owing to its unparalleled, wine-red new growth. 'Katsura' will continue to push new, richly colored foliage all summer long. Only as the foliage matures does it become very dark green. In early spring, long racemes of rose-colored flowers cascade over the evergreen foliage, radiating with a sweet floral scent.
